Spider and varicose veins affect more than half of the female population in the United States. Out of all known modalities of treatment, the use of Nd:YAG lasers is the simplest and most efficient. Laser treatment is quick and completely non-invasive. The Nd:YAG laser heats the spider vein , so that the blood inside coagulates and the vein collapses and eventually disappears. Each individual treatment session is completed within 10-20 minutes. Depending on the size of the spider veins and the size of an area affected, the process may require between two and six sessions. Treatments are generally scheduled between four and six weeks apart. The skin around the treated vein may be irritated for a few hours immediately following treatment. Slight discoloration is also normal, and should disappear with time.
